Sharing with a financial adviser
Advisers usually ask for statements, pension valuations and a list of what you own. With GetGild you can give them a live, read-only view instead, and you decide exactly whatâs in it.
The same steps work for an accountant or mortgage broker.
Set it up
Section titled âSet it upâ- Create a shared portfolio just for them, for example âShared with Alex (adviser)â. Keep it separate from your family portfolio so each audience only sees whatâs meant for them.
- Link in only the accounts and assets they need. An adviser reviewing your retirement plan might need your pensions and ISAs, not your current account.
- Invite them as a Viewer.
- Set an Access expires date, such as the end of your review period. Their access stops on that date without you having to remember.
Theyâll need their own GetGild account, which is free while weâre in early access.
What they can and canât do
Section titled âWhat they can and canât doâA Viewer sees balances, holdings, transactions and tax figures for the accounts youâve linked in. They canât add, change or delete anything. They canât see anything you havenât linked into that portfolio, including the rest of your personal portfolio.
GetGild is read-only anyway. Nobody, including you, can move money or place a trade through it. See How we protect your data.
Ending access
Section titled âEnding accessâAccess ends by itself on the expiry date if you set one. To end it sooner, open Manage Portfolios, select Show members and Remove them. If the portfolio was only for them, you can delete it instead: your accounts stay in your personal portfolio.
