Sharing with your household

Everything you connect to GetGild lives in your personal portfolio. Only you can see it.

If you manage money with a partner or family, you can create a shared portfolio, for example “Smith Family”. You choose which of your accounts and assets go into it, and each person you invite sees the combined picture. Your other accounts stay private.

  1. Open Manage Portfolios from the menu.
  2. Select + New Shared Portfolio.
  3. Give it a name and select Create.

You’re the owner of any portfolio you create. To bring people in, see Inviting someone to a shared portfolio.

You connect accounts once, in your personal portfolio. Then you link them into the shared one.

  1. Use the portfolio selector at the top of the screen to switch to your shared portfolio.
  2. Go to Accounts and select + Link Account.
  3. Pick the accounts you want to share.

Assets work the same way from the Assets page. Linking doesn’t copy anything. Balances and transactions keep syncing from your original connection, so the shared view is always current.

To take an account back out, select Unlink from this portfolio next to it. It stays in your personal portfolio.

Role See everything shared Link and unlink their own accounts Invite, remove people, rename, delete
Owner Yes Yes Yes
Editor Yes Yes No
Viewer Yes No No

A partner who handles the money with you would usually be an Editor, so they can link their own accounts too. Viewer is read only, which suits an older child or a financial adviser.

Once you belong to more than one portfolio, the selector at the top of the screen lists them all. Pick one and every page, from the dashboard to tax, shows that portfolio’s numbers.

Only the owner can do this, from Manage Portfolios. Everyone loses access straight away and it can’t be undone. The accounts themselves aren’t deleted: they stay in each person’s personal portfolio.

If you delete an account from your personal portfolio, it disappears from every shared portfolio it was linked into. GetGild warns you before that happens.
